A college girl in Tokyo, living alone for the first time...

the days of little adventures and mixed motives...

 

 

One long-awaited day in spring, Uzuki Nireno leaves home, putting Hokkaido behind her and heading off to university in Tokyo.

There experience scatters around her like the petals of falling cherry blossoms: new apartment, new school, new neighbors, new bicycle, new bookstores... a new landscape.

 

At school orientation, however, someone catches her off guard with a question:'why did you choose this university?', It's a question she can't answer; she has a reason she can't tell to anyone.

 

The sun pours down into the apartment you've just moved into; you throw yourself down on the bed.  You buy a bicycle and ride around your new city in theApril breeze.  Your neighbor, distant at first, begins to warm to you.  There is no nihilism here; theis film proclaims a world about which everything has definitely not been said, a world tingling and sweet that everyone remembers but no one has ever expressed.  April Story is a wildiy beautiful paean to the freedom and pride of independence, and to the joy of love.
